If your 2JZ smokes on start-up, here is most likely the reason. Oil sits in your cylinder head over night and will seep past an old rubber seal and if the valve is open will make it to the piston area. When the car is started a puff or more of smoke comes out the exhaust.

Valve stem seal leakage is a common phenomena on the 2JZ engine as it gets higher miles or more hi boost abuse. If you have a “puff” of whitish-blue smoke on morning start-up, or when the car hasn’t been started in a while, then this is the culprit.
